This Week: The best performance enhancing drug (sleep!); proper running form; Speedplay power meter pedal; Dr. Dan Plews to coach Javier Gomez.

Hi all,

Here is your weekly Tri Town Times newsletter:

Training thoughts and updates:

- Forget supplements. The most simple and effective performance enhancer is to get enough quality sleep. Take a deep dive with sleep scientist Matthew Walker on the power of sleep.

- Fascinating reading and viewing on running form from famous author and running enthusiast Malcolm Gladwell.

- Running is second only to swimming when it comes to questions I receive on 'proper form'. Here is a summary of my notes and favorite resources on all things run form.

Gear that caught my attention:
A Speedplay powermeter pedal is finally here. Cyclists, triathletes, and bike fitters love Speedplay for their adjustability and float. We should have both the single-sided and dual-sided power options in stock this week.

Quote that struck a chord:
Patience is not passive, on the contrary, it is concentrated strength.” ― Bruce Lee

If you have a moment to spare:
Dr. Dan Plews runs an excellent training platform and website called Endure IQ. He himself is a Kona age group world champion, and has guided the training of many professionals to their best performances. Dr. Plews is now coaching 39 year old Javier Gomez (paywall). Javier one of the best triathletes in history, and is known as a dominate swim/runner. I'm excited to see the fruits of this relationship as Javier shifts his focus from Olympic and 70.3 distance events to full Ironman.

Have a great week!
