The Tri Town Times: 4/27/20

Zwift endurance record broken; group workouts planned for mid-May; mobile bicycle pickup/delivery service.

Hi all,

Here is your weekly TT Times newsletter:

Weekend Race Report:
Not a race, but very impressive nonetheless: Travis Samuel of Toronto set a Guinness World Record for "Longest Zwift Ride in 24 Hours" by riding 1,008 kilometers (626 miles).

Events We're Looking Forward To:
Many people have asked if there will be any racing this season. Many Ironman and 70.3 events have already been postponed or cancelled, but others (like 70.3 CDA) are still scheduled for their original date. Find the full Ironman/70.3 race date list here.

Training Thoughts and Updates:

- Quinn's Pond is warming up- current temps are hovering around the low 60's. Open water swim workouts are tentatively planned to start Monday, May 18th.

- The Tri Town Tuesday Ride is tentatively planned to start again on Tuesday, May 19th. Use our workout calendar for updates.

Shop Ops:
Our free mobile pickup/delivery service continues to be available on Monday mornings and Thursday evenings. Thank you to everyone who has taken advantage of this service, we are committed to making mobile pickup/delivery an ongoing component of our business. You can schedule an appointment for pickup or delivery here.

Gear That Caught Our Attention:
When was the last time you washed your helmet? If you're like me, possibly never. I've been looking into this recently due to COVID-19, but it would be a good practice to get into regardless. Here is a review of the best practices to clean and sterilize a helmet.

Quote that Struck a Chord:
"Life is 10% what happens to me, and 90% how I react to it." - Charles Swindoll

If You Have a Moment to Spare:
Zwift is a blast, but it's not real life. Some of the top triathletes in the world were humbled in the most recent Zwift Pro Tri race by athletes they never heard of before- a reflection of Zwift's clear issues and limitations. Despite taking a possible hit to his self-esteem, Lionel Sander's thoughts on the matter were the most insightful.

Have a great week!
