Usain Bolt times NFL 40 yard record; Kristian Blumenfeld big volume training; Ironman's messy beginnings.
Thank you to everyone who placed an order for a 2019 Tri Town training and racing kit. Today is your last day to place an order, so please act quickly if you're interested in a kit for the 2019 season.
Here is your weekly TT Times update:
Weekend Race Report-
- Holly Lawrence and Adam Bowden took top honors at the highly competitive 70.3 Dubai. If either of them can also win the 70.3 World Champs and the 70.3 Middle East Championship (in Bahrain), they will secure the Nasser Bin Hamad Triple Crown and the million dollar prize purse that goes along with it (a feat accomplished by Daniela Ryf in 2015).
Gear that Caught Our Attention-
As both a cyclist and woodworker this got me more than a little excited.
Popular Social Post-
- The athleticism of NFL players is impressive, but to tie a league record in causal clothing and 2 years outside of any competition just goes to show how good Usain Bolt's really is.
- Though Kristian Blumenfeld had a rough day at 70.3 Dubai (DNF due to leg cramps), he leaves little doubt that he's willing to put in the time when it comes to swim, bike, and run training (see 2nd image in each link).
Quote that Struck a Chord-
“[Success] is not about beating the other guy. It’s not about having more than the others. It’s about being what you are, and being as good as possible at it, without succumbing to all the things that draw you away from it. It’s about going where you set out to go. About accomplishing the most that you’re capable of in what you choose. That’s it. No more and no less.” - Ryan Holiday
If you have a few moments to spare-
If you're like me and enjoy reading about sports history, you'll want to read about the messy beginnings of Ironman. For further reading on the topic, a great resource is trihistory.com. This interview with Valerie Silk, who guided Ironman on the path to world wide success, is absolutely fascinating.
Have a great week!
