Now down to business, here is your weekly TT Times newsletter:
Training Thoughts and Updates-
This article from renown strength and conditioning coach Menachem Brodie is a good review why endurance athletes should consider including a basic strength/conditioning element to their training. My favorite quote from the article:
"... it's not lifting heavy things that allows the athlete to see gains and increases in sport performances. Rather, it’s an improvement in the joint positioning due to better strength balance at the joints, along with better tissue qualities and improved abilities to maintain good posture and positioning of biomechanical advantage in their sport."
Quote that Struck a Chord-
"And now that you don't have to be perfect, you can be good." John Steinbeck
How often do the thoughts of perfection, or our misdirected thoughts of achieving perfection, prevent us from taking action in the first place? Don't be afraid of saying, "This is what I got, it will have to do, and I'll make the most of it." And the key to becoming very good (and one day almost perfect) at just about anything? Subtle, thoughtful, and nearly continuous refinement compounded over time.
If You Have a Moment to Spare-
I had the pleasure to ask a question of my industry-crush, Josh Poertner (of Zipp wheels and Silca pumps fame) on the popular "Marginal Gains" podcast. Listen to the show here, or jump to the 20min30sec mark to listen about the new projects we've been working on at Tri Town.
Have a great week!
