Super League Triathlon is back with a COVID-friendly format; Tour de France starts next week; Ketogenic diets and endurance performance; Talking vs action.

Hi all,

Here is your weekly TT Times newsletter:

Weekend Race Report:
Super League Triathlon has been at the forefront of driving triathlon towards a marketable and TV-friendly format. After 11 months off, it's good to have Super League back with a COVID-friendly format: 3 back-to-back triathlons, pool swimming, Zwift riding, self-powered curved treadmill running and unique transitioning.

Events We're Looking Forward To:
The Tour de France departs this Friday in Nice, France.

The crushingly dominate Team Ineos, which has won the Tour de France 7 of the last 8 years, released their Tour de France roster last week. Most interestingly, Chris Froome (4x winner of the Tour) and Geraint Thomas (1x winner) are not on the start list. Richard Carapaz, last year's winner of the Giro Italia will be joining Egan Bernal's (last year's winner) leadership team for yellow Jersey contention. Froome is apparently targeting the Vuelta Espana on October 20th.

Training Thoughts and Updates:
Research on ketogenic diets continue to show no benefit to endurance performance. It is apparent than <50g of carbohydrate per day is probably not going to help your athletic performance, but neither is eating a whole bag of chips. Moderation is key.

A Thought From Me:
"Talking about it is not the same as doing something about it."

I've been thinking a bit about words vs actions. My conclusion is that talking about something rarely leads to productive action being taken. How many people talk about signing up for a race, or talk about cleaning up their diet, or talk about joining a gym, never taking the necessary steps to make it happen. We've all been there.

On the other hand reading, planning, and writing lead to productive action being taken. Scheduling your season leads to signing up for the race. Writing a workout plan often leads to excellent execution of the plan. These "supportive actions" help us take action more than words ever can.

Have a great week!
