The Tri Town Times: 7/20/20

Hi all,

Here is your weekly TT Times newsletter:

Weekend Race Report:

- The triathlon events falling under the knife due to COVID-19 continue to rack up: Ironman and 70.3 Wisconsin; 70.3 Santa Cruz; Ironman Chattanooga; and the inaugural 70.3 Washington are all being rescheduled to 2021.

- This is the face of pain... local stud Jocelyn McCauley set the indoor Everesting record last week with a time of 7hr 34min. She's looking for recommendations for an outdoor record attempt around Idaho.

Training Thoughts and Updates:
A great podcast from "That Triathlon Show" on running form and biomechanics with Dr. Izzy Moore. In short, trust your instincts- there is no one perfect running technique or form.

My personal notes, tips, and resources on running form can be found here.

Quote that Struck a Chord:
With so many competitive events cancelled this season, it's amazing to see people continue to push their physical and mental limits with big, challenging goals. Ryan Holiday once said, "Not everything that's hard is good, but almost everything good is hard." I believe this gets to the root of why we do what we do: exercise daily, run a marathon, compete in Ironman, etc. We do it because it's hard. The difficulty of the task stimulates our personal growth. So don't stop doing hard things: challenge yourself to get outside your comfort zone, to struggle, to find yourself in a moment that may suck and even humble you. Those are the times when you grow and develop the fastest. Those moments, often in hindsight, are the good times.

Have a great week!
