USAT Multisport National Championships Festival; Lionel Sanders vs Josh Amberger bike splits at Kona; Triathlon Taren; Obsessed Triathlete website.

Happy belated Veterans Day. Here is your weekly TT Times update:

Weekend Race Report-
The USAT Multisport National Championship Festival was this weekend in Miami, Florida. An Aquathlon (1000m swim, 5k run) event was held on Saturday, and a Half distance triathlon, duathlon, and aquabike (swim/bike) event was held on Sunday. Results have not yet been posted.

Events We're Looking Forward To-

Training Thoughts and Updates-

- My most recent blog post answers this question from one of our athletes: "Lionel Sanders was only 2min faster than Josh Amberger (at the Ironman World Champs), but held 62watts more power over the 4 hours and 20 minutes ride. Why such a big discrepancy in power? Google has their weights listed as Lionel being 11 lbs more. Would 11 lbs require 60+ more watts?"

- "Triathlon Taren" has built an impressive library of youtube videos, many of which are full of solid tips for the beginner to intermediate triathlete. I wish I had seen his video on swim breathing and body balance when I started triathlon training.

Shop Ops-
  • We're open our normal hours from 10am-6pm today.
  • We'll be closed on Thanksgiving.
  • We're open normal hours on Black Friday.

Gear that Caught Our Attention-
The Obsessed Triathlete website is a great resource to compare Ironman and 70.3 race course difficulty and overall trends. If you're a data nerd like me I promise you'll especially love the 'stats' element on the site.

Quote that Struck a Chord-
As a business owner, mechanic, athlete, and occasional wood worker who relies upon quality equipment, this quote from Henry Ford rung especially true:

"If you need a machine and don't buy it, you will ultimately find you have paid for it and don't have it."

Have a great week!
