Ironman Hawaii week; Kona viewing party; why bananas are great endurance foods; training day w/ Jocelyn McCauley.

Hi all,
Thank you to everyone who participated in the Triathlon Swap this past weekend. We had our best swap ever, and it's 100% because of you and the support you've given us over the past 8+ years we've been in business. Thank you for allowing us to be part of your journey in endurance sports.
If you listed gear at the swap please pick up any unsold items this week. If your items sold at the swap please give us 1 week to either mail a check to you or apply credit to your account.

Events We're Looking Forward To-
The Ironman World Championship is this Saturday in Kailua Kona, Hawaii. We'll be streaming the race all day at the shop, feel free to watch the race and enjoy Hawaiian themed food and beverages at our shop starting at noon.
We have 6 locals competing in the World Championship race this year. Their accomplishment is no small feat- the dedication, skill, and sacrifice required to qualify for Kona is exceptionally fare. Congratulations to all of you.
The locals who are competing this weekend are:

- Brian Anttonen

- Bryan Shiflett

- Carolyn Olsen

- Jeff Mutchie

- Rachael Tatko

- Jocelyn McCauley

(please let us know if we missed someone)
Training Thoughts and Updates-
Athletes use bananas more than any other fruit to fuel their workouts. A recently study reviewed why bananas are so effective.
Popular Social Post-
Want to stay up with the Kona hype? Here are a few of my favorite resources to stay connected on race week:
  • Talbot Cox produces short yet engaging videos regarding triathlon lifestyle and pro content.
  • Bob Babbit (who spent an evening at Tri Town earlier this year) starts his Breakfast with Bob Kona Edition today. Find the full interview schedule here.
Quote that Struck a Chord-
"It is simply this: do not tire, never lose interest, never grow indifferent — lose your invaluable curiosity and you let yourself die. It's as simple as that." - Tove Jansson
If You Have a Moment to Spare-
Local top pro Jocelyn McCauley is in Kona as she puts the finishing touches on her preparation for the big show. Slowtwitch recently published a "Training Day with Jocelyn" article providing a glimpse into her final preparations for race week.
Have a great week!
