Ironman California cancelled; Ironman Waco and Great Floridian wrap-up; Ironman purchases Fulgaz virtual riding platform.
Hi all,
Here is your weekly TT Times newsletter:
Weekend race report:
- The highly anticipated Ironman California in Sacramento was cancelled 45 minutes before the race start due to near-record setting rainfall (almost 5'' of rain in 24hrs). The men's pro field that assembled for this race was possibly the most competitive field of the season.
- Ironman Waco was Saturday in Texas. Congrats to Tri Town employee Kevin Lassen and others from Boise for a great race!
- Tri Town Coach Ricardo Valverde took 5th overall and won his age group at the Great Floridian full distance triathlon. Congrats Ricardo!
Events I'm looking forward to:
70.3 Oceanside is Saturday, October 30th.
Industry news:
The Ironman Group has purchased Australian virtual riding platform Fulgaz. Fulgaz is known for its real-world videos of famous cycling routes around the world (some popular Boise routes have been recorded too). We can expect to see Ironman courses on Fulgaz soon, providing a helpful training aid to athletes preparing for a race.
Quote that struck a chord:
"Quality means doing it right when no one is looking."
This quote from Henry Ford was mirrored in more recent times by Colin Powell:
"Always do your very best. Even when no one else is looking, you always are. Don't disappoint yourself."
Have a great week!
