Weekend Race Report-

- The US men seem to be coming into top form just in time for the 2020 Olympics, with Matt McElroy taking his second World Cup victory in as many weeks at the Miyazaki World Cup event in Japan.

- Florra Duffy won her record 5th Xterra World Championship race, and Bradley Weiss his 2nd on this notoriously treacherous course in Maui.

If the aspiring athlete could ask for anything, self-control should be near the top of the list. Self-control comes into play in all aspects of training and preparation to race. Of the elite athletes I've known and worked with over the years, the most successful always exercised excellent self-control when it mattered most, and often made it look easy in the process (though I have little doubt it was a refined skill they developed over years of practice and deep rooted willpower).
