Denmark Sets World Record on Budget-Friendly Bikes; A Window into Women's Competitive Cycling.

Training Thoughts and Updates:
Thank you to everyone who joined us for our seminar last week on "Baseline Testing for the Endurance Athlete". Our next seminar, titled: "Sport Specific Strength Training for the Endurance Athlete" is scheduled for 5:30pm on March 9th.

Gear That Caught Our Attention:
I love the Olympic season- a lot of new cycling tech hits the market right around this time, often causing quite a stir. Yet the biggest news is about a Danish pursuit team that broke the 4k Team Pursuit World Record on mostly stock equipment. While some are saying this questions the relevance of tech in pushing the boundaries of cycling performance, I personally feel it highlights the importance of prioritizing your potential performance gains. In this case: you first must have the fitness (power) to set a world record, then you must be capable of holding a world-class body position AND produce world-class power in this position, and finally your equipment needs to be at least on par with the best money can buy. How often do we obsess about the latter point, while failing to optimize the first two?

Quote that Struck a Chord:
"Trying and struggling looks like incompetence right up until the moment it looks like success." -Shane Parrish, Farnam Street

If You Have a Moment to Spare:
This is a hard read, and maybe more the reason why sports like triathlon can benefit from an organization like the PTO so that the athletes who compete on the fringe of the professional level don't fall through the cracks.

Have a great week!
