The Tri Town Times: 9/10/18

We're moving to a new and larger location! Ironman Wisconsin; 70.3 Santa Cruz; YMCA Fall Sprint; Training with HRV; ithlete finger sensor; and Clubbing in the Wild.

As many of you may know, Tri Town has needed a larger retail footprint for some time. For the last few years I've been keeping my eyes open for a suitable building in the Hyde Park neighborhood. I'm excited to announce we've secured a historic building across the street from our current location. The new building will triple our retail space with an additional 1,000 sq/ft of porch space for post-workout relaxation. The three story building will have a sales floor and coaching center on the main floor and a service center in the basement. We will convert an apartment located on the second story into a sporting-themed Airbnb (to be finished sometime in the future). Our staff and crew are working daily on the new space, bringing it up to code and building all furniture and fixtures by hand. Our hope is to move in within the next two months. If you're in the neighborhood feel free to check it out (1510 N 13th St.)- we'd love to give you a quick tour. And most importantly, thank you for supporting us over the last 7+ years- you make this all possible with your bottomless support and energy. Thank you!

Now down to business....

Weekend Race Report-
- A handful of locals traveled to Ironman Wisconsin to compete on the challenging course this weekend. Lindsey Corbin won the women-only pro field, and Boise pro Erin Green finished in a strong 6th place. Local Brian Anttonen also finished an impressive 6th in his age group with the exact same finishing time as Erin Green.
- 70.3 Santa Cruz also took place on Sunday. The pro races were won by Eric Lagerstrom and Sarah Crowley. And if there was any doubt that Boise has some strong female triathletes- locals Margaret Hepworth and Liza Rachetto won their age groups and Carolyn Olsen took 3rd in hers. Congrats to all!

Events We're Looking Forward To-
- The last local tri of the season: the YMCA Fall Sprint is next weekend.
- The ITU Grand Final and Age Group World Championship is this weekend on the Gold Coast in Australia. Our very own Travis Wood made the journey down to compete in both the draft legal sprint race and non drafting olympic event. Good luck Travis!

Training Thoughts and Updates-
HRV (heart rate variability) has received a fair amount of attention in training literature lately, and more studies continue to come forth supporting it's use as a helpful training tool.

Gear that Caught Our Attention-
If you're interested in tracking your HRV, I've used the ithlete Finger Sensor in the past and found it to be easy to use and relatively inexpensive compared to other options on the market.

Quote that Struck a Chord-
"It doesn't make sense to hire smart people and tell them what to do; we hire smart people so they can tell us what to do." - Steve Jobs

If you have a few moments to spare-
This "Clubbing in the Wild" clip brought back many awkward and painful memories.

Have a great week!
