The Tri Town Times: 8/26/19

McCauley 2nd at Vichy; less training specialization during childhood; importance of sleep; shop fun.

Hi all,

Here is your weekly TT Times newsletter:

Weekend Race Report-
Local hero Jocelyn McCauley put on a great show at Vichy 70.3, taking a close second to prior Duathlon World Champion Ellma Pallant.

Events We're Looking Forward To:
The 70.3 World Championships is September 7th (women's event) and 8th (men's event) in Nice, France. The pro field is once again staked, with only 2018 Champion Jan Frodeno missing from the men's field.

Shop Ops-
New shop hours starting next week:
Mon-Fri: 10am-6pm
Sat: 10am-4pm
Sun: closed.

Training Thoughts and Updates-

- An interesting study for all parents: this fascinating study shows "elite" athletes tend to train less in their early childhood and specialize in their sport at a later age than athletes who compete at a "near elite" level.

- Another study highlighting the importance of getting 8+ hrs of sleep for the endurance athlete.

Gear That Caught Our Attention-
Speaking of sleep: I was recently gifted a 'wakeup light alarm clock'. If you hate the jolt of a traditional alarm clock you'll love this gentle yet effective device.

Popular Social Post-
This instagram post captures so much about our crew at Tri Town: having fun while working with great product and people.

Quote that Struck a Chord-
"Under pressure you don't rise to the occasion, you sink to the level of your training. That is why we train so hard." Joshua Medcalf, Chop Wood, Carry Water

Have a great week!
