Here is your weekly TT Times update:

Weekend Race Report-
  • CDA 70.3 was held under perfect conditions yesterday, with photographer extraordinaire Scott Conover and I tracking more than 50 local athletes. Almost everyone had a strong performance, with a couple age group wins and quite a few top 10 placements. We hope to have an album of race photos posted on FB by next week. Congrats to all who raced!
  • The CDA and the Pac Crest Half and Olympic triathlon seem to always fall on the same weekend, forcing local athletes to chose between these two great races in two different but beautifully similar venues. Quite a few locals made the trip and just like in CDA represented well. Congrats to all who competed in Sun River this weekend! Results here.

Events We're Looking Forward To-
  • Twin Falls Old Town Criterium July 7: A lot has been going on in Twin lately- and the city is celebrating with a top-level criterium in a couple weeks. This promises to be a big event, and a perfect tune-up race for the Boise Twilight Critthe following weekend.
  • "We Are Triathletes" movie screening on August 8th, 6:30pm at Edwards 21 Cinema in Boise. This award winning independent film will be shown in Boise if enough tickets are pre-sold. The film follows six athletes from four countries and tells the story of how they prepare for the world's largest long distance triathlon: Challenge Roth in Germany.

Training Thoughts and Updates-

What I've Been Reading-
"Today We Die a Little!: The Inimitable Emil Zatopek, The Greatest Olympic Runner of All Time." An amazing story of a runner many people today never heard of. Emil Zatopek is the father of interval training, and redefined training for an entire generation. He is generally considered the greatest runner of all time, yet his running form was described as "like a man with a noose around his neck...the most frightful horror spectacle since Frankenstein...on the verge of strangulation; his hatchet face was crimson; his tongue lolled out." If you ever need encouragement to trust yourself and focus on what works for you, this book is for you.

Most Popular Social Post-
Enjoyed a little warmup swim in McCall with the boys before driving to CDA.

Quote that Struck a Chord-
Since I've been reading his biography, it only seems appropriate:
"What you do when the stadium is full is important. But what you do when the stadium is empty is a thousand times more important." -Emil Zatopek

Have a great week!
