The Tri Town Times: 03/30/2020

We continue to stay open and offer pick-up/drop-off services; Races continue to be postponed or cancelled; Omni-Go starts local online racing series; Lionel Sanders tips a new trend in KOM hunting. Be well everyone

Hi all,

As many of you know, Idaho Governor Brad Little issued a 21 day 'stay-home' order last week. Bike shops are allowed to stay open as an essential business for transportation, but we are running a skeleton staff, and have temporarily cancelled our 'high-touch' services like bike fitting and blood lactate threshold testing. Our bicycle repair department remains open, and to help maintain the quarantine and a safe distance please feel free to use our mobile pickup/delivery service.

Training Thoughts and Updates:
Strava and other apps are getting a lot of use during the 'Age of Social Distancing'. With the local road racing series cancelled, OmniGo Events has created a "Boise Social Distancing Road Series" on Strava. Every week they post a new segment and riders compete for the best time within their category (or for a personal best). You can signup here and the series results can be found here.

With almost all events/races being cancelled or postponed, I would not be surprised if many athletes will change their focus from competing at the next race, to setting a PR or KOM on a their favorite Strava segment. Here is a little inspiration from Lionel Sanders, who did just that on the famous Mt Lemmon climb in Tucson, AZ.

Shop Ops:
Our free mobile pickup/delivery service continues to be available on Monday mornings and Thursday evenings. Thank you to everyone who has taken advantage of this service. You can schedule an appointment for pickup or delivery here.

Popular Social Post:
This is far and away the best quarantine meme I've come across yet.

Quote that Struck a Chord:
"When something bad happens you have three choices. You can either let it define you, let it destroy you, or you can let it strengthen you." Dr. Seuss.

If You Have a Moment to Spare:
Last week the Ironman Corporation was purchased by Advance Publications for $730 million. Advance Publications is an American media company that owns a more than a few household names like the Discover Channel, Conde Nast, Wired, and is a majority shareholder in Reddit. Andrew Messick will remain CEO of the company.

Have a great week!
