Vision Metron TFA EVO Basebar and Vision Metron TFE EVO Extensions: A Complete Guide
(12/8 - Blog is a work in progress)
Vision released a new basebar at the 2025 Ironman WC race in Kona. The Vision Metron TFA EVO Basebar follows a lot of the trends we are seeing in aerodynamics and adjustability. The goal of this blog post is to review key specs and show how Di2 cable routing works seamlessly with this new bar.
Here are some basic starting specs for the bar:
- 40cm width - we find this adequate for a large portion of competitive riders, but may be narrow for riders with 44cm or wider shoulders.
- 90mm stem
- 95mm max stack height
Three main pieces work together on this new Metron TFA EVO Basebar. The main unit of this system is the basebar, which includes the top cap, compression plug, spacers for the risers with their respective bolts, and the clamp that holds and tilts the pad mount. The basebar unit retails for $985 and includes bolts and spacers to adjust monoriser height anywhere from 5mm to 95mm of stack. One of our favorite features is the ability to snake a standard Shimano SD50 Di2 E-tube wire through the stem, up the back of the spacer, and into the pad mount.

The second unit of this system is the armrest and aerobar extension mounting platform. This is where you need to make a decision. Are you looking for a traditional two-piece aerobar that has the pad and extension separate? Or are you mounting a full arm extension like the Vision Metron TFE EVO?
For this blog post, we are following the steps to install the Vision Metron TFE EVO Extensions. These full arm extensions have quickly become a shop favorite. A more in-depth sizing guide can be found here (insert hyperlink). For these, you will need to purchase the Metron TFA Evo bridge for TFE extensions (SKU:670-0519000970). This mounting plate gives you nearly infinite angle adjustability, ideal for triathletes exploring a high hands position or time trialists looking to conform their position to UCI constraints.

In this mounting plate, there is a nifty little channel for Shimano wire to sneak its way out of the monoriser and through the pad mount. Exit holes allow it to cleanly enter the back of the Vision Metron TFE EVO Extension.
Add on the cover to hide the Di2 cable.

Mount the Vision TFE EVO Extensions.

Lastly, many triathletes are looking for a between-the-arms (BTA) bottle mount. Vision has provided a solution by creating a third piece to this cockpit. The Vision Metron TFA EVO Bottle cage bracket kits (SKU:670-0520000680). This small add-on piece does not include bottle cage bolts and bolt nuts, but it give you options for risers and tilt adjusters like the TriRig BTA Elevator (include link).
Other fun tips:
The topcap for this integrated stem uses a small bolt that threads into the M6 bolt on the Vision compression plug. A clean fit, but make sure you use the supplied materials.
