Tucker Botkin

Name: Tucker "bots" Botkin (privately coached athlete)

Hometown: Boise, ID

How'd you catch the triathlon bug? I remember watching Kona on TV as a young kid and being completely mesmerized and inspired. I hadn't thought much of it, though, until Boise 70.3 was announced and I started watching ironman videos on youtube for hours at a time. While it was several years before I attempted that race, I knew I wanted to race in some kind of triathlon. I did my first race in Emmett in 2011 and was hooked immediately.

What's your favorite workout? I like a good swim/run brick.

Do you have a favorite race or triathlon memory? I am blessed to have the support of an incredible wife and 4 amazing kids. My favorite moments during races and the memories I cherish the most are when I see them out on the course supporting me. Their faces light up (probably just relieved I'm still alive) and for a few brief moments, I feel no pain. I love their smiles and high fives.

What races do you have planned for the 2017 season? I'll definitely be doing all the local races that I can including the Y Tri series as well as Emmett. I'll also be in Burley for the Spudman. I'm going to try for two 70.3 distance races but haven't narrowed them down quite yet.

What do you do when you're not training? I love spending time with my family and friends. I also like perusing the samples at the local Costco.

What's something people may not know about you? I am a huge music fan. Especially 90's alternative rock. I have two sons named after some of my favorite musicians of the era, Beck and Rivers (of Weezer).
