The Tri Town Times: 3/25/19

Tuesday ride starts this week; bike transport to 70.3 CDA; on saying "No".

Hi all,

Here is your weekly TT Times update:

Events We're Looking Forward To-
The YMCA Spring Sprint Triathlon is the local season opener, and a great event for beginners and experienced athletes alike. Race entry fees are only $45, but sign up soon as prices go up next week.

Training Thoughts and Updates-

- The Tuesday Threshold Ride kicks off tomorrow at 6pm. Please read our guidelines if it's your first time joining the group for this fast-paced 'drop' ride. A couple things to note:

- I'll lead a modest pace group from the shop at 5:50pm sharp. If you would like instructions on group ride dynamics, drafting, hand signals, etc please feel free to join me. Average pace will be about 17mph.

- If it's raining hard the ride will be cancelled. Check our workout calendarfor last-minute cancellations.

- Supplements are a popular discussion topic amongst athletes, and with an unregulated market and thousands of options to chose from, it can be hard discern the good from the bad. Despite the countless supplement options available, there is strong evidence that only a handful of supplements provide any real recovery benefit.

Gear that Caught Our Attention-
Are you racing Ironman 70.3 Coeur d'Alene? We offer bike transportation to and from the race for only $150 (from Boise, ID). All details can be found on our website. As of this morning we still have 5 slots left.

Quote that Struck a Chord-
As few as you can, as many as you must.” John Stuart Mill

I recently had a conversation with a friend on prioritizing, and saying "no" to the countless non-essential things that distract us from what really matters. To be successful in sport (or in your career), you have to learn to say "no" to most things- often things you would normally like to do, but only serve to distract you from your true goals. Read more on the topic here.

Have a great week!
